Nars Tinted Moisturizer or Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

While in the market for a tinted moisturizer I dropped by my local Sephora, narrowed it down to the obvious two and was provided with two generous samples. I alternated between the two this week and have made a fairly easy choice based upon my personal needs. But what did I choose?

First up:

NARS Tinted Moisturizer in St. Moritz (medium with neutral yellow)

Nars tinted moisturizer is a lightweight formula with a Broad Spectrum SPF 30 and comes in 9 shades. It also makes claims on the skin care front proving to “reduce the appearance of discoloration and dark spots caused by hyper pigmentation for clearer and brighter skin in just four weeks”. I used this product for three days so I cannot determine whether or not it had brightened the appearance of my skin. Nars tinted moisturizer provided lots of moisture and had more coverage than other tinted moisturizers I have tried in the past, which I loved. The coverage was excellent while the product remained lightweight on my skin. The moisturizer was definitely also thicker and creamier than other watered down versions I have tried and blended well into my skin. It definitely left my skin radiant, not greasy. The product had a slight sweet lemon scent which was rather pleasing and eventually dissapeared. I also loved the color that I was provided with, it was the perfect summer color for me. Get it here.

Next up:

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Sand (for light to medium skin tones)

Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer has an SPF of 20. It is a “sheer, lightweight formula with a hint of color you can use in the place of your foundation for a natural finish and healthy, glowing complexion.” It comes in a wide range of 10 shades and 3 different formulas, including an oil free version and an illuminating version. Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer was a more watered-down version that gave me minimal coverage. It was lightweight and blended beautifully absorbing well into my skin. The product was very moisturizing and created a dewy look which I would need to powder a bit to prevent an oily appearence. I would not reccomend this for people with oily skin instead I would suggest they try the oil-free version. Get it here.

Both Tinted Moisturizer’s were excellent and I would recommend them both depending on what your needs are. Both contain an SPF and felt weightless while leaving my skin well moisturized. Hand down for the coverage and glowing results Nars did it for me. I will be picking it up this weekend and wearing it all summer long.

What is your favorite tinted moisturizer? Any thoughts or questions?

  1. I’ve been using the Nars tinted moisturizer in Alaska for about a month and absolutely love it. I’ve also used the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer but it just wasn’t for me, not enough coverage. You look like you have such beautiful skin you don’t need any coverage!

I used Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer a while back and found it left me looking rather greasy than glowy, but I have since been curious about the oil-free version. I may just try it. They both look lovely on you – you have wonderful skin!

If this is how they look on Nars, I’m catching the next flight.

I have always wanted to try the Laura mercier tinted moisturiser, but the nars definitely looks better on your skin. Too faced bb cream is also amazing!

  5. I’m going on vacation in late May for my birthday and you know what that means? VACAY MAKEUP! I think only serious beauty junkies think this way, lol! Anywho, I’ve zeroed in on the NARS PRTM to take with me b/c it seems to offer more coverage than other TM’s and it’s in a plastic tube which is bomb for travel! I’m an NW20 in MAC liquid makeup so I’m thinking one of the lighter NARS TM’s should work for me. I’m going to Sephora this weekend and I’m pumped! Thank you so much for this awesome review/comparison, Taylor! You are so beautiful, and I love your detailed reviews and pics. Have a lovely Friday! :)

    • Hi Kristen,
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! I love the NARS TM! I hope it works well for you. The Dior BB Creme is also wonderful for easy vacation makeup with more coverage. I hope you have a wonderful time!

      • Thanks, Taylor! :) My local Sephora was out of my shade, so I ordered it from the NARS site this morning. Squee! There’s something extra exciting about getting makeup mail! Hope you are having a lovely Monday and aren’t getting clowned for April Fool’s Day!

I’m a HUGE Nars girl and I too think their TM is the best of the best! I knew you’d agree and came in to read this post expecting to hear good news!
