Tarte Amazonian Clay and Annatto Body Bronzer

Tarte Amazonian Clay and Annatto Body Bronzer is a universally flattering body bronzer infused with Amazonian Clay and Annatto. “ Amazon bronze delivers the perfect amount of sun-burnished glow while treating your skin with nourishing ingredients. It’s perfect for all skin types and tones and never looks chalky. Amazonian clay, nature’s most perfect ingredient, acts as a total skin balancer by reducing dryness and flakiness, improving clarity and texture, and removing surface oil for a true Brazilian bronze bombshell finish; all while replenishing and rehydrating skin. Reinvigorate dull-looking skin easily and naturally by swiping on the bronzer whenever you desire a warm glow that will power on throughout your day.”

This body bronzer from Tarte contains healthy skin ingredients such as Amazonian Clay, jojoba seed oil, mineral pigments and vitamin E. Its is formulated without parabens, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfates, and synthetic fragrances. It is dermatologist tested and cruelty free.

Tarte Amazonian Clay and Annatto Bronzer comes in a faux-leather crocodile embossed compact, which is very lovely and sturdy. Inside the packaging is a puff for application and behind it a mirror. You get a very large pan (0.70 oz) of bronzer, which is plentiful enough for an appreciable amount of applications for the body. When experimenting with this product I was going to just apply it to the front and full length of my legs. However, I found that the powder did deposit a considerable amount of pigment and did not match the rest of my leg, it was far more of a tan tone. Perhaps deeper into the summer I might be able to get away with strategically applying this onto select areas of my body, such as, fronts of legs and collarbone. So, I picked up more product and continued to rub it in to the entire area of my legs, one section at a time. I had to have a keen eye when applying this product as to not leave any smudge lines. I found myself using quite a lot of pressure to cover my leg areas evenly. I did wind up wiping off any excess so as not to transfer the product onto clothing.

I have to say, I was quite skeptical about how I felt powdering my body. I am more of an oil girl and thought that my skin might feel dry and I was concerned about how it might work with heat and sweat. To my pleasant surprise the powder felt incredibly soft and silky on my legs. I found myself rubbing them together, cricket style, enjoying the smooth sensation. It wasnt drying to my skin at all, in fact is was quite nourishing. The powder worked very well in the heat and felt lightweight while id did last throughout the day.

When looking at the powder in the lighting of my home, I loved it. It gave me a great healthy tan color and left my skin looking healthy and luminous. However, when I ventured outside in the daytime and the sun hit it, all I could see was a ridiculous amount of sparkle, not shimmer, which was so unpleasant to me. How I wish that the sparkle in this product was far less noticeable, then it would be perfection. So, this product is for the nighttime only! It might actually be quite stunning in the moonlight or might I say ‘Twilight’. I provided some images for you below so you could judge for yourself.

Image on left is a comparison of legs without bronzer (on the left ) and leg with bronzer (on the right). The image on the top/right is my leg with the bronzer in the sun. The image on the bottom/right is the Annatto Body Bronzer very heavily swatched using a flash to show sparkles.
