BECCA Radiant Skin Satin Finish Foundation

Newly released from Becca Cosmetics is the Radiant Skin Satin Finish Foundation. As a great fan of the Becca brand, I had been very eager to try this out. With medium/buildable coverage it provides antioxidant protection and a lightweight satin finish. It contains sebum-absorbing properties and is suitable for all skin types.

The Becca Radiant Skin Finish Foundation, I expect, is going to receive many mixed reviews. It had me wondering what exactly I thought myself. The texture is what I would describe as a cream, and requires some shaking in the tube before use.

Becca’s Foundation Finder Guide on their website successfully matched me to Sand, a fair beige with yellow. The Radiant Skin Foundation requires some work to provide an even finish. I found that the formula applies the best when using your fingertips. Forget brushes or damp sponges, there will be too much streaking. The formula still streaks when using your fingers and it is necessary to take your time to smooth it over.

It provides light coverage and builds to medium. I find it is necessary to be quick when layering. It dries fast and will move around when you go over it again. I must stress just how difficult it was to apply this. I needed to go over again and again to remove steaks. The foundation doesn’t seem to blend into the skin well, but rather sits on top of it. While it made some of my pores appear less visible it settled into others.

This foundation was not forgiving on my drier skin. It stuck to dry patches, especially the dry skin around my nose, resulting in an overall unfinished look. It had a tendency to stick to the tiny hairs on my cheeks making the makeup appear visible on my skin. The foundation provided a satin finish and overtime grew to provide more radiance. I didn’t find it necessary to powder this foundation. For me, the Radiant Skin Finish Foundation was a huge miss. Although, I could see it possibly working better for those with normal to oily complexions. Even so, I still belive it will require a great amount of maneuvering to provide a steak-free, even finish.

  1. This foundation still looks flawless on you! I’m sorry, but I seriously can’t see any imperfections, haha. I haven’t tried any Becca products, but I obviously need to get on that.

  2. claire says:

Taylor, first, your skin looks flawless and second, too bad it accentuates dry patches. SInce my skin is dry-dry I will skip this one (or I will get a sample first). Wow, do you even have pores? :O you look perfect here, so natural, I really like that :)

  3. this foundation was a big miss for Becca. Their formulation is usually way better.

  4. Sunny says:

OK seriously, I don’t see any of the unevenness you’re talking about, but foundations are often very, very difficult to photograph. I’m so sorry to hear it’s a miss for you! I am still intrigued, but I’ll definitely get a sample to see how the formula works for my skin!

    • Hi Sunny, it is so hard to show and I worked very hard to create an even appearance. You can slightly see hair that looks more apparent as well as lighter patches all over that normally wouldn’t be there, I can definitely see very mixed reviews and I’d love to hear what you think!

  5. Bummer it didn’t work out for you! :/ I agree, you still look gorgeous anyway! :)

  6. Carina says:

Honestly, you keep making me want to try Becca! Haha maybe not this foundation, though. Sorry it was a miss for you. :(

  7. That is really too bad–and I was SO curious about this one too, as it was the only liquid foundation in Becca’s line that even remotely sounded like it might work for my oily skin. But if it already got more “radiant” on you as the day progressed, that means it will probably be “brilliant” on my face by hour 2 :/

    • Yes, I was just as curious. I wanted the medium coverage as well. Well I never say never, people are very particular with their foundations however I just can’t see it working for anyone. I’m looking forward to reading others review actually. Thank you Becca :-)

  8. Gina says:

I just want to say first of all that I adore your blog and second thank you for sharing this review with us. I don’t think a foundation should be that difficult to work with! My favorite foundations on you are both from YSL. I too love the touche eclat one. Looking forward to also hearing your opinion on the new YSL lipsticks :) x

    • Hi Gina, thank you so much. Your kind words mean so much to me :-) YSL is just the best. I love the touche éclat and the Teint Radiance, which has been a bit hard to find and I really hope they don’t discontinue it bc I love it! They both apply with great ease :-)
      Thank you again!

  9. Memoiselle says:

    HI Taylor,
Sorry to hear that this foundation does not works very well on you. However your skin looks flawless :)

  10. Larie says:

I haven’t tried this and with dry skin, it probably wouldn’t be the best. But your face and skin could sell anything, Taylor! :)

  11. Latoya says:

Second Larie’s comment!! It still looks lovely to me, Taylor. But it sounds like quite the hassle, which is less than ideal. Too bad! I considered getting this when I ran out of some of my other foundations. Now I’ll be sure to try a sample first. I do have normal-to-oilier skin and this would probably work well for me – Hourglass’ Immaculate foundation is THE BEST EVER for my skin, I don’t require powder and it leaves my skin with a gorgeous finish that’s neither matte nor dewy, but just perfect. On second thought…maybe I’ll just stick with that!

    • Haha, exactly. I’ve been hearing such good things about Hourglass. I love my YsL Teint Radiance and Fresh Umbrian Clay but I love to try new things. I can’t imagine this really working for anyone but I would love to hear what you think if you try it.

  12. Teri says:

Well hello flawless! I don’t see any dry patches or uneveness at all! Just perfect skin! Serious skin envy right now, hah! But I do believe you when it comes to the texture being hard to work with, foundations are such a personal thing and everyone experiences it a bit differently! You made it work tho! ;)

    • Aww thanks. I did a lot of work here, I swear! A LOT of blending.. Maybe I should have worked less hard to show. I agree, foundations are definitely a personal thing. I always expect people’s opinions to differ, thanks :-)

  13. I’ve been wondering about this foundation. Like everyone said, your skin looks flawless, but I do understand exactly what you’re describing about the finish, because I can get that as well with certain products. Of course, I never would’ve been able to tell if not for the zoomed in photo and even then, it’s so subtle, but it’s sort of the effect of the foundation being visible on skin, versus totally imperceptible. I think it was Lisa Eldridge who said she checks each foundation under a magnifying mirror to see how it lays on skin… this one may not pass the magnifying mirror test. It would be interesting to see how this does on someone with very oily skin.

  14. Juneau says:

Hi there. Lovely review. I am a big Becca fan, but I have to say that the Radiant Skin Satin Finish Foundation unfortunately doesn’t do it for me. I put it on and it gets very streaky, accentuates my pores like crazy, seems to be sitting rather on top of my skin than “melting into it”, and is extremely hard to work with. It makes no difference if I use moisturizer, primer or nothing under it. It just makes me look like I’ve been using make-up for the first time and don’t know how to work it. And my skin is not dry at all. I would consider it “normal”, meaning a bit more oily on the t-zone but no oilyness or dryness for the rest of the face. This is actually the first foundation I have ever tried who gives me this patchy look. I can completely relate to your review. I have yet to find a way how I can use it. I would hate to throw it away. I would be curious if you find a way to use it without it being so “visible”.

    • Hi Juneau! I’m hear you 100%
Since I picked mine up at Sephora I was able to return it. It would be terrible to put it to waste, I agree and I wish I could play around with it more and let you know. Maybe Becca could offer some advice or a refund for you? I hope something work out. Sorry to hear :-(

  15. Juneau says:

Since I last commented I “kind of” found the “holy grail” for it. I used Hourglass No.28 Primer Serum under it and with that it glides on smooth as butter, no streaking, no patchiness, you can even layer it twice. I tried three layers, but that’s where it starts going awry again. So, one or two layers are fine and it actually looks really nice. Good thing as I can’t return my I ordered it online, as there are no stores in my country where they sell Becca. Strangely enough using it with the Becca primers does zilch … and one would think that products from the same company would work well together. So if anyone still has the foundation, try getting a sample of Hourglass No.28 Primer Serum and see if it works for you. Good luck!

    • That is wonderful to hear! I’m so glad. Ill have to check out this little wonder product. Hourglass is defi Italy a brand I would like to further explore. I recently picked up they’re ambient powder.., lovely!
