RMS “un” cover-up

RMS “un” cover-up is “formulated to reveal and enhance healthy skin. “ This creamy, hydrating concealer provides nourishment to the skin while concealing imperfections. It can be used to cover  the under-eye area, dark marks, and blemishes or used all over as a foundation. Due to its creaminess, it provides a dewy, radiant appearance while not settling into fine lines. The finished look is incredibly natural. The “un” cover-up won Allure’s “Best of Beauty” award for ‘natural wonder’ two years in a row as a natural concealer.

The “un cover-up” contains all natural and certified ingredients. RMS creator Rose-Marie Swift has an incredible philosophy towards beauty and cosmetics, sourcing only the highest quality ingredients and taking “extreme care in the use of minimal heat in the manufacturing process of this product in order to keep all nutrients and healing properties alive.” This is why you are going to have to drop $36 for this product if you want it. These ingredients are:

cocos nucifera (coconut) oil*,
ricinus communis (castor) seed oil*,
cera alba (beeswax)*,
theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter*,
simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil*,
tocopherol (non-gmo),
rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) extract*

I picked up #22 for light-medium skin with warm, olive, or neutral undertones. Upon first impressions I was quite certain that #22 was going to be far to dark for my skin tone especially considering the intention of using this product mainly as an under-eye concealer. However, after applying, it seemed to blend rather well under my eye area, matching the rest of my face quite flawlessly. The creamy consistency blended beautifully without any dragging. I used a concealer brush then pat the area with my fingertips to thoroughly blend. There was no settling into the creases under my eye area.

My under-eye circles are a bit of a stressor for me. My dark circles require a full-coverage concealer. While the un-cover up provided exceptional coverage, it was not quite ample enough for my requirements. Ultimately, I highly recommend this concealer to those who don’t have similar needs to mine. I think this concealer would suite the average persons needs very well. The consistency, as well as it’s and beneficial ingredients are the tops for your everyday concealer.

Despite my reservations, I tested this product as a foundation. I was beyond impressed with it versatile performance. After moisturizing skin, and before applying the “un cover-up”, I moistened my skin with a mist (RMS  un cover-up doesn’t require pre-moisturized skin). I dabbed the concealer using my fingers onto areas of my face. I then continued to blend the product using a compact foundation sponge. I was fascinated by the way this product blended seamlessly into my skin, matching perfectly to my skin-tone. The end result was flawless and exceptionally radiant with a highly-natural look. I hadn’t anticipated such a fabulous blending capability with a “concealer-like” formulation. The product did however carry a bit of weight on my skin.

I can imagine using this as a luminizer as well, incorporating it into my highlight/contour routine. It is also fabulous to drop in your purse for touch-ups.

I provided before and after photo’s to help show the pigmentation issues that I have. I am wearing only mascara in the before photo, and RMS “un” cover-up and mascara in the after photo. I applied the cover-up under my eye area and in the inner corner of my eye blending slightly on to my lid. The “un” cover-up did a beautiful job, but their still remains some discoloration that I wish to further disguise.

I highly recommend RMS “un” cover-up to those who wish to conceal light to moderate dark circles, light skin discolorations and acne, or to those seeking a natural makeup with medium coverage.

  1. Hi!

Nice review! I totally agree with you on it!

Rms is my favorite foundation/concelear, as I love the natural finish (how it blends ‘seamlessy’ in the skin) and the feeling on the skin. I do not have major blemishes to cover, but i do have an issue with my dark circles – however, I like the medium coverage provided by the RMS un cover up.

In days when i feel i need full coverage, i use Vapour foundation & concelear, or W3ll people Narcissist

      1. I have a small review – just some first thoughts based on a sample, here:

I bought the full size 2 months ago, and am planning a full review (maybe with some pictures, when I can get a good light – we have had grey weather nearly constantly here!)

The texture is somewhat drier that RMS Uncover up, and the finish is also different – while RMS beauty resembles the skin, the W3ll People Narcissist provides a more luminous finish – it has been described as ‘lit from within’ finish, and i agree…

if you have any enquiries on it, just let me know!

  2. Oh wow, this looks SO natural on you! I have to start looking into the brand. I heard that their stuff doesn’t last as well, because it doesn’t have all the harmful chemicals that make it long-lasting. But oh well, with effect like this perhaps it’s worth the trouble 🙂

  3. I think it looks fabulous on you! You’re skin is flawless. But I understand if you’re wanting for more coverage. Great post, I’m definitely going to try it out. I haven’t even heard of the brand and I am a concealer collector! lol Unfortunately, I was blessed with lovely dark circles so I am always on the hunt for great concealer. My absolute favorite part is that the brand is all natural. And maybe I need this highlighter your fellow readers are raving about too! 😉

  4. I use the concealer for the under-eye too, it’s such a great tool isn’t it?! I can see how it totally brightens up your eye area as well while covering enough of the discolouration. Sometimes I don’t even feel like I need the luminizer when i use this as a total-face foundation, because it already gives such a pretty sheen. Do you agree that this concealer it works better than YSL Touche Eclat?

    1. I absolutely agree with you! I love the glowing effects. No need for luminizer here. The YSL Touche and this are such different products, ysl being more of a brightening makeup and this as more of a cover-up.

  5. I have had this on my wishlist for the longest time now and after reading your review I want it even more!!! I am going to save up and get this very soon. It looks and sounds so wonderful!! It looks like it gives great coverage! I as well struggle with dark circles and it can be extremely frustrating!!! can’t wait to try this!!

    1. Hi Britanie! I think you will love it. It is absoluely wonderful. I have been wearing it was a foundation and it’s so beautiful and glowy. The ingredients cannoy be beat. Dark circles are a terrible pain

  6. Sorry to disturb you (again) on an older blog post, but as you used the Becca Foundation (the one you took back to the store) in Sand, it seems we have approx. the same skin color, and I have long been wanting to try the RMS uncover up. I see you used the 22 and it seems to match pretty well. I understand it doesn’t have full coverage, which is ok for me, I found full coverage gives me a strange look … so lightening up that dark area under the eyes would be alright.
In the photo it looks actually great on you (here is hoping it will look equally good on me). Would you still recommend it after you’ve had it for a while now, or do you find yourself not using it any more? Maybe you’ve come across something more suitable?

    1. Oh please, no bother. I love to talk beauty.. Clearly, haha. Ok, I loooove this stuff as much as ever. As an under eye cover up its amazing! It’s incredibly natural. It’s also incredible at hiding blemishes or any flaws. I also use it as a foundation in my days off.
If your coloring is close to mine, you might want o consider shade 11 also. I felt I could go a little lighter for an under eye cover up. But as a concealer for my face, and fr use as a foundation I love this shade. So that should be considered.
Talk beauty with me anytime 🙂

  7. Hello! Can you pelase give me your opinion on concealers? What do you think is better for really dark under eye circles, RMS cooncealer or it cosmetics? Thank you!

    1. Hello. It Cosmetics! Hands down! It’s the only one that really covers for me. It runs light in color, FYI and I’m the shade medium which is still a bit light to wear along with a tan. Also if you pick it up at qvc you spend a little extra but it comes along with a concealer brush. 🙂

  8. Hi! I’m looking for a full coverage concealer that solves my (really) dark under eye circles. I think my skin is pretty much like yours, but my dark circles are worse. Right now, the only one I have ever found to cover them is MAC StudioFinish (NW20), but I wanted to go natural/organic and, from your review, I realized Un Cover Up is not for me. Do you have something to recommend? Thanks!

    1. Hi!
The only product that seems to cut it for me is the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer, which is clearly not a natural product. I have heard the the best natural/organic on high coverage concealer is the one from Studio 78 Paris, although I have not tried it personally.
