New Skincare

My skin has been inconsolable as of recently. Despite my best efforts, I have been unable to quell the dry/tight feeling that has been plaguing me so. While that’s happening my pores are larger than ever. I am beside myself, and do not tell me this is a part of aging, I couldn’t bear it. I am pretty sure my skin is quite dehydrated which makes sense as per my terrible diet as of recently. So along with a diet lower in salt and big on water intake, I picked up this little treasures as well.

Demalogica Skin Hydrating Booster

I have been wanting to try something from the Dermalogica brand, which by the way I have been pronouncing Dermatologica and wondering why people have no idea what I’m talking about. So, I went on derm-a-log-ca’s very helpful website and came across this ‘hydrating booster’. It’s a concentrated fluid full of hydrating ingredients that you apply much like a serum. It contains Hyaluronic Acid, Panthenol, and Nutrient-rich Algae. I can already say that I have seen a significant increase of moisture in my skin. I have been using it daily and my skin is plump, moist and free of any tight feeling. I will keep using it and provide a full review.

Wei Golden Root Purifying Mud Mask

I love a great mud mask and I think every woman should have one in her beauty routine. I find them very helpful at drawing out impurities. I have heard good things about this one from Wei which is based on the yin-and-yang system. It contains Pure China Clay and Golden Root. In the box you receive six individual applications that you apply with a brush that is provided. I never applied a mask this way and now that I have, I must always use this method. Is was a lovely spa-like experience  using this mask and certainly made my skin appear smooth and refreshed.

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask

I also picked up this antioxidant-rich masque from Dermalogica. It received exceptional reviews and is a best-seller. It helps the skin “recover from damage while enhancing barrier properties and promoting healthy tissue regeneration.” It contains an abundance of gorgeous ingredients including Vitamins A, C, E, Lactic Acid, Licorice Root Extract and so much more. I havent yet tried it and I can hardly wait any longer.

Need help remembering to drink more water? Download this nifty little app on your IPhone to help keep track… Now just remember to look at it.

I will be providing thorough reviews on all items here soon.

Have you tried any of these products? Have you wanted to?

  1. Aww I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been having a hard time! I’ve been sticking to cleansing milk/balm, oil, and my trusted Caudalie Vinosource Sorbet. I’m still doing fine, but winter is still long so I can’t wait to read your full reviews and find out if any of these is REALLY REALLY good 🙂

  2. Ah don’t you just LOVE that WEI mask?! It’s the most gentle purifying mud mask I’ve come across but it’s still surprisingly effective. And it smells so nice! Plus, you feel like you’re really getting pampered when you use the brush to apply it! 😀

  3. Oh, I can’t wait for your review, especially on the Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask. I need to replenish some masks, and I’ve been looking at Dermalogica too 🙂

  4. Hi Taylor,
I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your skin. I went through the same thing last year and I found that Dermalogica really helped to balance my skin. I use the precleanse oil, ultracalming cleanser and the skin smoothing cream. Twice a week I use the daily microfoliant. I cannot say enough about the brand and it has greatly helped my skin look radiant or as radiant as it can ever look anyway! My skin tends to be dry and red, with large pores on my t-zone. Though my pores will never go away, I find that this regimen and regular facials help a lot! I wish you all the best as I know how stressful and anxiety producing it can be.
    Take care, Melanie : )
PS. If you can go to a salon that sells Dermalogica, you can get a ‘skin mapping’ done and they can recommend products for you skin type. : )

    1. Hi Melanie. I’m so glad to hear all of this! Are you my long lost twin? And do you have a blog over there your not telling me about?? I have heard only good things about Dermalogica, and would eventually love to try more. I will definitely have to check out the cleansers and exfoliant.
      Thank you so much 🙂

  5. I hate when my skin is acting up and nothing seems to help it. I’ve just discovered the french brand Yonka and am totally head over heels for one of their night creams. I’ll do a full post on it very soon because it’s saved my skin so far this winter. I’m a big fan of Dermalogica as well and have wanted to try that booster but haven’t yet.

  6. one of my roommates in college really loved dermalogica, until she discovered lush! weird that i remembered that. anyway, i have some dermalogica samples around so i need to try them out! i think the hardest and most important part of maintaining your skin is a healthy lifestyle – drinking water, eating and sleeping well… my skin was SO much better after I drank more liquids and slept better. Anyway, good luck finding the perfect skincare! 🙂

  7. If you want to try something cheaper but moisturizing try hada labo. Another blogger talked about it – Drivol about Frivol – and she has dry, sensitive skin. I also picked it up for my retinoid cracked skin and it feels refreshing and provides long lasting moisture. There is a brightening version and a super hydration version. It’s a japanese brand but you can pick it up from

  8. I own the Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask and I ADORE It. Perfect way to give my skin a bit of a pick-me-up when it’s not happy with the weather etc.

    ♥ Jessica

  9. I haven’t tried these but my skin has been freaking out too and I started using Key’s Care Hydrating Moisturizer and I am already in love! My breakouts are going away and my skin is moisturized. Plus its all natural 🙂

    1. Sorry to hear. I feel confused when my skin is confused haha. I’m not quite sure what steps to take first. I can say the hydrates is quite awesome and things are already looking up. I’ve never heard of Key’s and love natural skincare. I’ll look into it, thanks 🙂

  10. I am so torn between the Santa’s skincare (poor customer service) May Lindstrom or One Love Organics. Any help please. I am 37 and have acne. Thank you

    1. Hi,
For Acne I use the products in this link:
The cleanser mentioned is a hero product, if u stop using it I break out. The Manuka Honey is a godsend, I use it for spot treatments and as a mask. None of these products are drying. I love May Lindstrom Problem Solver or Osmia Organics Detox Mask the keep pores clean. I also highly reccomend the Queen of the Hive Face Contour cream as an anti-aging cream, which contains Manuka Honey as well.
      I hope this helps.
