Spring is here and it feels like a celebration! Now that we’ve said goodbye to winter and shed some layers, its time to reveal a more radiant you. This is the season for renewal and time for a full-body skin reboot. Winter can certainly wreak havoc on our skin but with some extra tlc you can get it back into shape.
Amp up your water intake – My #1 tip for youthful, healthy and radiant skin is simple, drink more water! I never really understood how dramatically our water intake can effect our appearance, until I experienced a time when I wasn’t drinking enough. When you up your water intake, you will notice a difference in your skin in a matter of days – in its tone, texture and the diminishing of expression lines. So, I consciously make an effort to drink as much as I can throughout the day. Get a cute bottle and add in lemon for additional benefits. If your palate isn’t impressed by the taste of water alone, infuse it with fruits… whatever you do, get it in!
Exfoliate – Shed some layers (of skin) with a good ol’ scrub down. Exfoliating the skin from head to toe is a surefire way to achieve glowing skin. I highly recommend Kahina Giving Beauty’s Beldhi Soap and Kessa Mitt for the most intense exfoliation of your life! This high-performance duo will have you looking and feeling brand new. I also love a good sugar scrub, like Captain Blankenship’s Rosemary and Lemongrass Sugar Scrub or Rachel’s Plan Bee Body Polish for one part exfoliation – one part super hydration. Using a dry brush is another great way to exfoliate and detoxify the body. Dry brushing stimulates the lymphatic system to cleanse the body and rid itself of toxins. If you’re cleansing this season, dry brushing is a great addition in helping to get things get moving.
Moisturize – Are you using a body oil in your daily routine? If not, its time! Body oils are like… well, face oils, but for your body. They are plentifully available and at different price ranges, it’s also a lovely way to fragrance the skin. Body Oils deliver a highly concentrated dose of active ingredients to the skin – no emulsifiers, no fillers. Remember, that because body oils and serums do not contain water, they must be applied to damp skin. I bring my body oils into the shower with me. Some personal favorites are Kahina Fez Body Serum, ARYA Essentials Body Oil and One Love Organics Gardenia + Tea Body Serum (the perfect scent for summer). Sweet almond oil is another great option. For your driest bits, you can double up with some Waxelene or ‘All You Need is Me’ from True Organic of Sweden.
