Rose Gold & Blush Tones for the Holidays

The holidays are among us and it’s a perfect time to add a little extra glam to your look. It might sound a bit silly – but even to this day I still get a bit excited about planning my holiday makeup. Granted, my look isn’t anything too glamorous, but I am wearing a selection of new products that I’ve been loving. These days I’ve been really drawn to rose-golds and blush tones and this is a nod to that.

A Luminous Summer Look

A luminous makeup look starts with the skin. Exfoliate, cleanse, hydrate and protect your skin to reveal your most radiant complexion. I always emphasize that it is “skin first, makeup second.” Once your skin is prepped, opt for creamy products with luminous finishes and natural ingredients to protect and nurture the skin as they further work to optimize your natural radiance.

Even Things Out: I am a big fan of self-tanning. If you are stuck in the old way of thinking that self-tanners just don’t look natural, think again! There are so many amazing formulas out there that deliver a natural looking tan, sans the damage. Having a bit of a tan will help to even skin tone, allowing you to use less product. Follow up with a lightly tinted, luminous moisturizer with SPF, like Pacifica Ultra CC Cream Radiant Foundation or Suntegrity 5-in1 Tinted Sunscreen.  I must mention I do not supplement any CC creams or tinted moisturizer for a moisturizer.

Cover: To conceal the under-eye area and other areas of the face that may need more coverage, the RMS Un-Coverup is an indigenous product. With the use of a damp Beauty Blender, strategically place extra coverage wherever you desire. The RMS Un-Coverup provides fuller coverage while brilliantly creating a dewy and luminous, skin-like finish.

Bronze & Blush: To create subtle definition and to promote a healthy summer glow, use liquid and cream bronzers for the most natural effect. Gressa’s Minimalist Contouring Serum is in a league of its own. Just one drop of this brilliant bronzing serum, rich in skin-healthy ingredients, creates the most natural tan. Use this beauty to add some subtle contour. Gressa’s Air Focus Foundation Brush is a must for seamless application. For some additional luminosity apply some RMS’ Buruti Bronzer to the high points of your face. Create a subtle flush to the apples of the cheeks with W3LL People’s Universalist Multi-Use Stick in #9 Nude Flush.

Eyes & Lips: Keep it simple on the eyes and lips and leave the focus on your skin. Create subtle definition on the eyes by using natural bronze and nude tones with the Pacifica Power of Love Eye Shadow Palette. Open the eyes, and make them pop with volumizing mascara, L’Oreal Butterfly Intenza Waterproof is a good one. For a natural glossy pink pout I simply adore Gressa’s Lip Boost in Bare.

Six Ways to Sparkle Into the New Year…

Get ready to ring in the New Year with a sparkling, radiant look! These six products are sure to help you look utterly radiant and glamorous. Its the perfect time of year to go a little overboard with shimmer. Have fun and get your glow on!

  • PRTTY Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion was introduced to me by the lovely Garcy of It’s a luminous body lotion that contains all natural ingredients. It conceals and tones the skin, ultimately allowing your skin to look its best. A light tint and subtle shimmer lends the skin an exquisite glow.
  • Lorac 3D Liquid Lustre in Gold is a multi-purpose liquid shimmer. Apply it on top of your existing eye makeup for an intense sparkle or even to your lashes. My personal favorite way to use the liquid lustre is added to my hair finishing oil. (here)
  • Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in Illusoire is an intensely sparkling plum cream shadow. Chanel does sparkle well and the Illusion D’Ombre shadows create an intoxicating look. (here)
  • Ilia Illuminator in Cosmic Dancer is a limited edition golden luminizer. The golden hue warms up your complexion with a subtle radiance. (review)
  • Marc Jacobs Beauty Nail Lacquer in Petra is a shimmering matallic bronze with a high-shine finish. (here)
  • YSL Golden Gloss in 54 (Golden Sand) is a nude shadow with plenty of golden shimmer. Shimmer for your lips? Why not, the result is utterly dazzling. (here)

The Two Best Highlighters for an All Natural Glow

The right highlighter can provide your complexion with a beautiful veil of radiance and a more defined look. The wrong formula could result in an unflattering glittery or powdery look. I personally prefer cream highlighters for a more natural, dewy finish. My two favorite, the W3LL People Universalist 2 and the RMS Living Luminizer are the best for a subtle and natural looking effect. A bonus is that they both happen to be completely natural and organic.

The W3LL People and RMS highlighters are actually both very similar. The main difference between the two is the creaminess of the formula. The RMS highlighter, which contains coconut oil, creates a wet-looking (dewy) finish, while the W3LL People is drier. Both are exquisite and create the most natural-looking finish that I’ve come across. Please do note that I used a heavy hand to apply the product in the swatches below.

‘A Makeup Look’ featuring Lorac PRO To Go Palette

I am sharing with today a look that I created using the Lorac PRO To Go Palette, which I recently reviewed here. This is a more dramatic eye look for evening that really helps to bring out green and blue eyes. The shadows and blushes are so beautifully pigmented and truly a dream to work with.

How I created this look

  • I applied Chai to lids and blended it into my crease using a MAC 217. I applied some to my outer-lower lash line with a smaller brush.
  • With the 217, I then applied Mink onto my outer crease.
  • Using the angle liner brush included in the palette, I lined my upper lash line winging it out slightly.
  • With a clean brush I applied Shell to brow bone, bringing it slightly lower to soften outer edges of the line I created earlier on my crease.
  • I then applied mascara.

  • With a small contour brush I used Bronze as a contour, concentrating color onto the hollows of my cheeks. Then using a lighter hand I brought the color onto my temples and forehead where the sun would naturally hit.
  • I finished off by applying Coral onto the apples of my cheeks.

Earth Day and an All Natural Face

Happy Earth Day Beauties.

In lieu of this day I have created a makeup look using an assortment of all natural, clean and eco-friendly beauty products. Natural beauty brands have come a long way in past couple of years creating formulations on par with high-end brands. I love to experiment with natural cosmetics since experiencing incredible results by incorporating mostly natural and organic ingredients into my skin care routine. While I do use some natural beauty products my personal routine is certainly not a clean one.

In this look:

  • RMS “Un” cover-up #22 – (as foundation)
  • Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques Golden Bronzer (used as bronzer and contour)
  • RMS Cream Eye Shadow in Magnetic (on lids)
  • W3LL People Universalist Multi-use Color Pot in #2 (applied to cheekbones, brow bones and inner corner of eyes)
  • Honeybee Gardens Truly Natural Mascara in Black Magic
  • Vapour Organic Beauty Aura Multi-use in Impulse #209 (on lips and cheeks)
  • Kahina Giving Beauty Toning Mist (to set makeup and to add a dewy finish)
