YOUNGBLOOD On-The-Go Beauty Set

I have been very eager to try the Youngblood cosmetics line. The people at Youngblood kindly sent me this set of six deluxe-sized samples of their best-selling products (thank you Crystal). The samples came in a beautiful eggplant faux-leather ostrich skin embossed makeup bag. The On-The-Go Set is a perfect way to introduce you to this mineral line that is chock full of skin healthy ingredients. The line is also cruelty and paraben free.

Mineral Primer

youngblood-mineral-primer

The Mineral Primer is the silkiest of primers that I have come across. If you could imagine, it’s even silkier than the Smashbox Photo Finish. The super lightweight and stunning formula disappears into the skin while rich minerals and vitamins protects skin from environmental damage. The primer helped to fill my pores, readying my skin for foundation.

Mineral Radiance Moisture Tint (warm)

 youngblood-1

The Moisture Tint hydrates skin and provides sheer coverage while protecting skin from environmental damage. The tint glides on beautifully providing moisture to the skin and producing a radiant glow. Your skin looks healthy and dewy, naturally. The Warm shade was too deep for my skin tone for this time of year but in the summer it would be perfect on top of a tan.

Mineral Radiance Tint ILLUMINATING (Golden Sun)

youngblood-2

The Illuminating moisture tint contains a variety of skin healthy ingredients, including shea butter, coconut oil, and argan oil. The product is a liquid that gives your skin a subtle tint of illuminating warmth. I loved how this luminizer brightened up my complexion giving me a glowing and healthy look. The shimmer was very natural looking and like every other product I have tried in this set the scent was delightful.

Mineral Illuminating Tint BODY

 youngblood-3

Packed with moisturizers this tint evens out the skin on your body with a shimmering bronzed glow. This is a product I would absolutely use in the summer for radiant and smooth looking legs. I love applying shimmer to the legs, it gives the appearance of toned skin as well as adding length. I could smell the Shea and Coconut Oils more obviously on this product which is so lovely. Once set this product doesn’t budge. I only wish I had a warm vacation planned in the tropics so I could utilize this.

Liquid Mineral Foundation (Sun Kissed)

 yb-liquid-mineral-foundation

This Mineral Foundation contains a blend of “rare Reduced Salt Deep Sea Water, botanicals and more than 20 Ocean minerals to soothe and revitalize the skin” I love the ingredients in this foundation. I am pleased than while I am wearing makeup my skin is being taken care of at the same time. There is no doubt that this foundation feels wonderful on the skin. The formula is creamy and it applies beautifully with a foundation brush or a damp sponge. The coverage is light and Sun Kissed happened to be the perfect shade on me. The result was certainly radiant and glowing like everything else in the line. The foundation is virtually undetectable on the skin, its your skin but better. I absolutely love the mineral foundation and for those with drier skin this is perfect. I had some trouble with the sample packaging when the tube cracked and leaked the foundation. I also felt that the foundation didn’t have the longest wear time. Ultimately I loved it!

My overall Impression:

I had a very positive experience sampling Youngblood Cosmetics. I will undoubtedly be making future purchases. I love a natural look no-makeup look that appears luminous and this is ultimately what Youngbloods line of minerals provides. The line is in tune to my needs and want’s and each item I have sampled has been perfectly executed. The list of beneficial ingredients is only the cherry on top that makes the brand exceptional.

BECCA Ultimate Eye Quad in Night Star

Newly released from Becca, the Smoke & Grace Collection is inspired by understated glamour and classic elegance. Among the item’s released where four Ultimate Eye Color Quads containing four gorgeous shades in matte, demi-matte, and metallic finishes. Each palette contains “a harmonious mix of rich hues to create the perfect new smokey eye.”  One quad allows you to color, contour, and highlight eyes to create looks for both day and night.

I picked up Night Star from the Smoke & Grace collection. The palette contains a selection of cool-toned grey/greens.  The four shadows are highly pigmented and velvety smooth making application a breeze. The quality is top-notch and creating a smokey-eye has never been easier. They blend just beautifully and are easy to build. While they are soft they are not too soft, just the perfect consistency with zero fallout. The four shades worked perfectly together and the look had just the right amount of drama. I took a step out of my comfort zone by choosing this selection of hues but was completely comfortable with the result which was perfectly tasteful. I highly recommend the Eye Quads, they are absolutely stunning, a must!

The lightest shade in the Night Star palette is a white shimmering pearl, perfect for highlighting the eye. The second shade is aMetallic Celadon, the star of the palette. The third shade is an army green which contours beautifully. The last shade is a Jet Black and is perfect for lining the eye.

To create this look I started by applying the second shade all over my lid and into the crease, bringing it under and onto the lower lash line. I then took the third shade and created a v shape into my crease and on my top/outer lash line and outer lower lash line. I then lined my eyes with the fourth shade  using a damp angled liner brush. I finished by applying the first shade onto my brow bone and on the inner corner of my eyes. I am also wearing Becca’s Ultimate Color Gloss in Fallen Angel.

Becca Smoke & Grace Collection feature four Ultimate Eye Quads $40 ea.:

Astro Violet -contains Matte Black Fig, Metallic Plum, Metallic Platinum, and Matte Plum

Eclipsed – contains Metallic Silver, Metallic Champagne, Metallic Khaki, and Metallic Moss

Galactica – contains Matte Ebony, Metallic Peach, Metallic Brown, and Dark Matte Brown

YSL Rouge Volupté in 30 (Faubourg Peach)

YSL Rouge Volupté is an ‘award-winning’ lipstick encased in the most stunning gold packaging. The creamy formula cannot be beat and is an all-time favorite of mine. It glides on silky smooth leaving behind intense color in one swipe. The formula is truly unique and I do not know of anything similar to it. YSL’s range of shades is extraordinary. I have developed a great weakness for YSL Lipsticks of all formulas. From the formula, to the shades, to the packaging as well as an SPF of 15 this lipstick is perfection. On a recent Sephora visit I unexpectedly discovered Faubourg Peach. This very wearable pale-peach shade grabbed my attention in passing. This stunner is my third Rouge Volupté Lipstick after #1  (nude beige) and #29 (opera rose).

Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base

I would like to introduce you to what I have deemed “the ultimate bronzer”. Leave it to Chanel to knock it out of the park in the bronzing category. Soleil Tan De Chanel makeup base has taken the place of all my previous bronzers. This “base” is a cream/gel formula that is buttery smooth and glides on skin with perfection. The look is a natural sun-kissed glow, in part due to the cream formula. The color is universal and just works. You get a hefty 1 oz amount of product for $48 US price tag which is quite reasonable, especially for a Chanel. This jar will last you some amount of time.

The consistency is was makes this product truly unique, it is hard not to fall in love. When pulling product it is not dissimilar to dipping your fingertips into a vat of butter. The formula remains creamy as you blend for a flawless and radiant finish. I suggest starting slow and building your color, although it is incredibly user-friendly. This base can be used over or under makeup. I prefer to use it on top of my foundation and under any powder products. The base works well applied to the area’s of the face where the sun would naturally hit. It also works well as a contour. I prefer to apply this product to the skin using a foundation brush then blending it in with a medium-sized buffing brush. Your finger’s as well as a sponge will give you nothing less than an utterly seamless application.

Product in image above is heavily swatched and true to color. There is the slightest amount of shimmer in this bronzer that is hardly noticeable. I would certainly refer to this as a sheer and matte bronzer. While the formula is creamy it does not really provide an amount of moisture to skin. I think that those with oily complexions need not fear this cream formulation. There is a fruity scent to this, as well as clay scent, familiar to Chanel makeup and quick to fade.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation is said to be a  “glowing, satin-finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS Complexion Brightening Formula, it leaves skin hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Used daily, Sheer Glow Foundation improves the skin’s brightness and texture.”

When seeking out a foundation I opt for one that provides a natural and glowing finish. What I expect from a foundation is for it to ultimately disappear into my skin giving the illusion that I am not wearing makeup at all, whether it is a light or full coverage formula. I just want to state that this can certainly be achieved from a foundation that still provides ample coverage. As a fan of NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, I picked this up as a heavier foundation for Autumn. I had rather high hopes for this foundation as it came highly recommended as well.

Nars sheer glow is a moist foundation with light buildable coverage. There is a light pleasant scent which ultimately smells of skin care. The formula is very creamy, of which I expected flawless coverage, but did not receive. I first applied this foundation on clean, moisturized skin, using a foundation brush then buffing it in with a stippling brush. The foundation was very hard to blend, resulting in a patchy/uneven appearance as well as a trail of brush marks. It clung to area’s where my skin was dry and settled into pores, making them appear more pronounced. The finished result was not ‘glowing’ in any respect and even powdery on some parts.  I applied the foundation a second time using a primer which made application much easier. It blended better, however still clinging to the drier areas of my face (which are not at the current time relatively dry) and settling into pores. I was exceedingly disappointed with this foundation. I didn’t try any further manipulation, I don’t see it reason in working so hard to make a product work.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation comes in a great selection of 20 shades. I was matched with Deauville (light 4) by the Nars MUA who then grudgingly sold me my final selection, Punjab (medium 1).  Punjab is for medium with golden peachy undertones, and suitable for my NC25 skin tone. There is no pump with this foundation, although I didn’t much mind. There is one available for sale separately.

Could it be ‘Love Forever’ with MAC

Recently, while on the hunt for a bold pink lip, I came across Love Forever from MAC. It is the pink that I have been searching for. From the Pro Longwear line Love Forever provides intense color in a long-lasting formula. Love forever is a fuchsia pink with blue undertones. It glides on lips beautifully and covers in one swipe. I found it best to blend it into my lip line using a lip-brush due to the shape of the lipstick. Pro Longwear lipsticks carry a little weight on the lips but are the tops for long-lasting color. I simply adore this new shade, it will be found among my current top 5 lipsticks.
