My skin has been very happy this summer, which is not always the case. With travel, exposure to the sun and chlorine pools, my skin tends to become quite stressed. Yet with my current routine and diligence, my skin is thriving through the stressors. I’m always quite regular in my routine, only changing up masks according to my needs and occasionally switching up moisturizers in regard to the days activities. One important change I’ve made is that I’ve ridded my routine of harsh cleansers – anything that makes my skin feel “squeaky clean” is gone from my daily regimen and replaced with only the gentlest and most hydrating options. This has made a tremendous difference in my dry skin, which never feels dry these days but quite dewy actually.
Even though its mid-summer, my skin still craves layers. Ultra nourishing oils, always topped with a water-based moisturizer works best for me.

Origin’s Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Face Mask is from the Dr. Andew Weil collaborated “mega-mushroom” skin-care line. “This creamy treatment mask with Hypsizygus ulmarius, Cordyceps and Reishi mushrooms along with Ginger, Holy Basil and Tumeric rushes relief to challenged skin to rapidly sooth signs of compromise. Chinese Black Bamboo Leaf Extract, celebrated for centuries as a symbol of eternal youth, quells and calms visible redness and reactivity. And a unique blend of marine algae and moisture-repleneshing plant extracts helps revitalize and restore luminosity to stressed skin and rebuild a protective barrier to help avoid future flare-ups.”
I purchased this mask from Origins at the end of February this year. I used it the colder winter months to soothe my winter ravaged skin. I had forgotten about it once spring came around, only to rediscover it and it’s incredible soothing properties after a suffering a recent sunburn, it happens. It was a slight sunburn that came along with redness and some pain and in searching for relief I remembered this product. It caused immediate relief to the effected areas on my skin and after one use it erased any traces that a sunburn had occurred.
Origin’s Mega-Mushroom line is geared toward people with sensitive skin and for those who suffer from redness. I suffer from redness at times but don’t really fall into these categories. I use this mask to soothe skin of environmental stresses, occasional irritations, including itchy bumps around my jaw line and unbalance. It also helps me hydrate dry skin that comes along with a tight feeling. It is tremendously effective at regulating these problems for me and at helping me get my skin back.
To use, apply to cleansed skin and leave on for about 10 minutes, then tissue off. I personally, only tissue off a small amount, leaving the rest on overnight. The scent of this product is not very good, which isn’t obvious at first. When I first used it I found myself sniffing around the house trying to identify where the terrible aroma was coming from. Closing in on my dog and starting to point fingers, I soon release that it was indeed, coming from my own face. In time I grew used to it, and I tend not to notice it anymore, not sure if that’s such a great thing. I love this mask, it’s like first aid face cream, and I do highly recommend it, scent and all.
