Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Orchid

Laura Mercier recently released eight new shades of their cult classic Caviar Stick Eye Colour for spring. Orchid is one of the new shades released along with grey pearl, rosegold, mint snow, sand glow, sugar frost, and seashell.

laura-mecier-orchid-3Since recently discovering the Caviar Eye Colour Sticks from Laura Mercier, I have been absolutely smitten. The shadow sticks make application a breeze, just a few swipes gives you bold color. You can easily blend them using your fingertip, or a synthetic eyeshadow brush creating a look in seconds. Darker shades can be used to create the perfect smokey eye, or you can simply just use it as a liner. The creamy formula provides exceptional wear.

Orchid is a lavender shade that’s heavy on the shimmer. In some lighting, it appears more mauve and in other a more cool-toned blue. This shade is a bit of a deviation from my standard. I must admit though, I find it incredibly wearable. It also looks lovely paired with amethyst, I’ll just pop some on the center of my lid for some added dimension.

I kept everything else simple and just added some lashes and a swipe of mascara in the below look. Orchid also looks stunning paired with a contrasting shade of coral on the lips or cheeks.

Dreamy Pick February 2013

Houglass Ambient Lighting Powder – I’ve recently reviewed this ‘hot item’ and have since been using it daily. This yellow-toned setting powder (not to be confused as a highlighter) leaves me with a naturally radiant finish while masking red-tones. (review)

Kahina Giving Beauty Antioxidant Mask – Another product from Kahina featuring their precious Argan Oil along with rhassoul clay and antioxidants in a potent mask form.  The mask deeply cleanses, conditions and exfoliates skin. I have a review coming soon!

Kahina Giving Beauty Argan Oil – This product has been nothing short of a miracle to my dry skin. I have been hesitant to refer to myself as someone with dry skin since incorporating this oil into my daily routine. The oil absorbs quickly leaving my skin radiant and not in the least bit oily. There are also a million other ways in which I use it. (review)

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in #8 ‘Pink in Confidence’ – It’s no secret I have a thing for YSL lipsticks, the Rouge Volupte formulas being one of my favorite. I love this nude-pink shade from their new ‘Shine’ range for every day. (review)

RMS Beauty Un Cover Up – This product has superior concealing capabilities and is chock-full of natural and organic ingredients. So while I can sometimes get away with using this to conceal my under-eye circles I usually require something a bit more potent. Personally my favorite way to use this is as a foundation on my down days or when I want to give my skin some extra TLC. It melts perfectly into the skin providing light coverage with the most natural finish. (review)

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Shadow in Amethyst – These shadow sticks create an easy smokey-look in just a couple of swipes. The lasting ability is quite exceptional and I am simply smitten with the shade Amethyst. (review)

Set your Makeup with this and this only! Laura Mercier invisible loose setting powder

Laura Mercier’s Invisible Loose Setting Powder “contains unique light-reflecting, micro-refined spherical silica powders that help creat a soft-focus appearance, diminishing the look of fine lines and imperfection while visibly smoothing skin.”

The Invisible Loose Setting Powder from Laura Mercier comes in one invisible formula that works on all skin tones. The wonders of this product lies in the micro-refined formulation. This powder is incredibly fine allowing you to set your makeup and conceal shine without giving you a powdered appearance. The texture is so silky and smooth that if you were to dip your finger into the pot it is like touching nothing at all. You will know when you inspect the powder that it is unlike other’s. I very much dislike the step of powdering your face, I will skip it if I can, but sometimes that is not a possibility. Thanks to this product I no longer dislike it as I used to. I can rely on this powder to erase shine without ever settling into fine lines. This powder is magnificent at setting your ender-eye concealer and constantly amazes me by never settling into the fine lines and creases in the delicate area.

I pick up the tiniest of product onto a large fan brush tapping off any excess as well. With a very light hand I sweep the powder first onto my t-zone and outwards and onto under eye are. The fan brush is recommended for use with this product to aid in a light application and it does it well. Whichever brush you may choose just make sure you use a small amount and apply lightly. I recommend this product to woman of all ages, skin tones, and skin types. For those with concerns about fine line’s I would highly recommend you to check this product out. There are similar products to this one on the market. There is one from Tarte, which I used previously to this and one from MUFE. I found this formula to be the silkiest.

Product Link -$35 gets you 0.4 oz (which should last you a very long time)

The Battle of the Tinted Moisturizer: Nars or Laura Mercier

While in the market for a tinted moisturizer, I dropped by my local Sephora and picked up the two customer faves. I alternated between the two this week and have made a fairly easy choice based upon my personal needs. How did they measure up?

First up:

NARS Tinted Moisturizer in St. Moritz (medium with neutral yellow)

Nars tinted moisturizer is a lightweight formula with a Broad Spectrum SPF 30 and comes in 9 shades. It also makes claims on the skin care front proving to “reduce the appearance of discoloration and dark spots caused by hyper pigmentation for clearer and brighter skin in just four weeks”. I used this product for three days so I cannot determine whether or not it had brightened the appearance of my skin. Nars tinted moisturizer provided lots of moisture and had more coverage than other tinted moisturizers I have tried in the past, which I loved. The coverage was excellent, blended easily and felt lightweight on my skin. It definitely left my skin radiant, not greasy. Get it here.

Next up:

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Sand (for light to medium skin tones)

Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer has an SPF of 20. It is a “sheer, lightweight formula with a hint of color you can use in the place of your foundation for a natural finish and healthy, glowing complexion.” It comes in a wide range of 10 shades and 3 different formulas, including an oil free version and an illuminating version. Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer was lighter in coverage than Nars TM. It was lightweight and blended beautifully. The product was very moisturizing and created a dewy look, which needed to be topped off with setting powder. Get it here.

Both Tinted Moisturizer’s were excellent and I would recommend them both depending on what your needs are. Both contain an SPF and felt weightless, while leaving my skin feeling well hydrated. Hands down, for the coverage and radiant effect, Nars did it for me.
