Meet the Lipsticks that Took the Green Beauty World by Storm – Nūdus 27 Kisses

Nūdus lipsticks have been making their mark in the in the green beauty world and beyond, to no surprise. The first time I got my hands on Nūdus, in the shade Naked, it was love at first swipe. These certified organic lipsticks provide rich pigment, exceptional long-wear and comfortable, hydrating color, while they drench your pout in an exquisite combination of skin-healthy ingredients. With a selection of ten exquisite shades (with word of more on the way) Nūdus has a lipstick for you.

Do you live with the notion that “natural” or “organic” alternatives do not live up to their chemically ridden counterpart? I did at one time, but its brands like Nūdus that put that mind-set to rest. These “euphoric” formulations stand up against your favorite “high-end” department store lipstick and it does so with great extent. It’s products like these that create a new form of thought as to why chemicals and fillers are used in the first place.

Tom Ford Spring 2014 Lip Color Conditioner in Pink Dune

Tom Ford’s Spring Makeup Collection features eight new ‘limited edition’ lip shades, along with four new Nail Lacquers. These Lip Color Sheers are a new formula for Spring/Summer have a sheer, shimmering finish. Tom Ford’s traditional brown retro-chic lacquered lipstick case got a makeover too.

Pink Dune instantly captivated me. I tried hard not to succumb to the allure of this radiant beauty, but I fell hard. This sheer peach shade contains a tinge of pink and a multitude of golden shimmer. The formula is creamy with a luminous sheen. It wears quite well and feels comfortable. The Lip Color Conditioners contain Tom Ford’s standard vanilla scent that isn’t overly fragrant. It easily layers for a bit more coverage without feeling heavy.

Tom Ford #02 Incandescent ‘limited edition’ Nail Lacquer for Spring 2014

Tom Ford’s Spring 2014 Beauty Collection is the ultimate new release. The collection contains four Nail Lacquer and eight Lip Conditioners in stunning seasonal shades. The collection readies my spirit for summer with shades of coral, sand, skin and sunshine. Onto my picks…

tom-ford-incandescent-nail-lacquer-2

First off, I must bring about attention to the exquisite white lacquer and gold packaging *swoons*.  Incandescent #02 is the mere jewel of the collection. This metallic rose gold shimmers flecks of silver and gold in the sunshine.

tom-ford-incandescent-nail-lacquer-1

I found Incandescent to apply rather easily, covering in one coat. Some streaking is only noticeable in natural and bright sun, otherwise it appears rather flawless. It dries rather quickly, which is probably due to the fact that it is a metallic shade. The formula wore a good five days, without any wear to note. As someone who often keeps busy with their hands, that is pretty exceptional for me.

If you are going to pick up anything from the collection, I would certainly recommend this metallic beauty. It might be the only accessory you need this summer. I also picked up a Lip Conditioner in Pink Dune (review to follow).

Givenchy Le Vernis Intense Colour Nail Lacquer in Rose D’Exception for Fall/Winter 2013 (swatches & review)

When is comes to luxury cosmetic packaging, Givenchy easily ‘takes the cake’! With lipsticks and compacts dressed in leather armour and pyramid studding, each piece is a treasure to be desired. A new collection called ‘Soir D’Excpetion’, is now available for Autumn and is one of exquisite elegance and sophistication, and perhaps a bit fun as well. Among the new collection is nail and lip duo in the shade Rose D’Exception and the two pieces that I have purchased from the collection.  givenchy-rose-dexception-polish111

Givenchy Le Vernis Intense Colour Nail Lacquer in Rose D’Exception is contained in a clear glass bottle with a reflective silver cap. The cap removes to reveal a rounded black cap with ridges much better suited for application. A wide brush, similar to that of YSL and Dior, allows the formula to apply with ease. I find both the formula and packaging very similar to the YSL Le Vernis. Like the former it almost ‘applies itself’. The formula is pretty close to perfection and the finish is a high-shine, glossy one. The wear time is also excellent.

givenchy-rose-dexception-polish-3

Rose D’Exception is described as a dusty-rose. The formula doesn’t streak or bleed and applies flawlessly. Two coats are recommended for he perfect finish. Rose D’Exception is a romantic and feminine shade for fall. I imagine it paired with a white Angora sweater and a glass of wine, beside a roaring fire. Too much? Perhaps…

CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Polish in #583 Taboo – swatches & review

Chanel did it! They took all the stars in the sky, bottled them up and called it Taboo. This ‘limited edition’ shade is out of this world, with irresistible shimmer that only the people behind Chanel can deliver. The galaxy is now at the ends of our fingertips.

chanel-taboo-3

Chanel Taboo is a deep red-toned metallic purple loaded with blue and reddish-copper micro-shimmer. In the bottle, Chanel Taboo is mind-blowing, with a magnitude of multi-colored shimmer. Taboo does not have quite the same effect once applied to the nail, however the look still remains absolutely stunning. In most lighting Taboo is a deep vampy purple with a high-shine and iridescent quality. Taboo’s true beauty really shines in bright sunlight where the shimmer is most visible.

chanel-taboo-5

Taboo applies flawlessly and covers in one coat, although two is definitely the recommended. The formula leaves a high-shine finish. The only gripes I have is the tip wear on the second day, followed by some chipping on the third. I am still searching for the perfect top coat for Chanel polishes to extend its wear.

Youngblood Lipstick in Dragon Fruit from the Summer 2013 Collection – swatches & review

As part of their Summer 2013 Collection, Youngblood has released a new lipstick shade, Dragon Fruit. The collection also includes a new Mighty Shiny Lip Gel as well as a completely new product called Maxim-Eyes, a natural eyelash restorative serum.

yb-summer-2013-dragon-fruit-1Dragon Fruit is moisture-rich and intensly hydrating. It contains moisturizing botanicals, including Sunflower oil and Candelilla Wax as well as Vitamin E to help condition lips. The slick formula glides on with ease providing a sheer wash of color and layers well for more intensity. Those with lips prone to dryness will adore this formula.

yb-summer-2013-dragon-fruit-4

The shade Dragon Fruit is a bright pink with a high-shine finish. The wear time is excellent, especially considering the lipstick is a hydrating formula. The lipstick has no detectable scent. Dragon Fruit appears to contain some warmer tones on my arm and leans more of a cooler bright-pink on my lips. The images of me wearing the lipstick is a more accurate read. As compared to another moisturizing lipstick in my collection, the Dior Addict Extreme, Dragon Fruit is a slicker formula with more color intensity. I also find the Youngblood formula more moisturizing than the Dior.

yb-summer-2013-dragon-fruit-3

Dragon Fruit is a gorgeous shade for summer. As much as I love the shade I am even more in love with the formula. This bright-pink also looks perfect paired underneath the new Mighty Shine Lip Gel in New Flaunt (review soon).

Paul & Joe Cheek Color in Re-Belle from Spring 2013 Carousel Collection

My introduction into the whimsical world of Paul & Joe Beaute began with their ‘Carousel Collection’ released this past Spring. I’m not one who is usually drawn in to such “pretty” although it seems to happen more often the older I get. My curiosity for the collection first began when I caught a glimpse of the elephant lipstick case (cases and lipsticks are sold separately), which I found quite irresistible. After seeing some swatches of the blushes on some of my daily beauty reads my interest was further piqued.

pj-3

The Collection included three limited edition lipsticks. I soon found that tracking down one of these limited edition shades was not an easy feat. After some searching I finally came across the lovely coral shade ‘Merry-go-round’, which I had my eye on, at ASOS.com. I havent included swatches of the lipstick shade in this post because its simply not available anywhere to my knowledge, so on to the blush!

pj-2

Paul & Joe released 10 blushes in their ‘Carousel Collection’. Like the Lipsticks, the blushes are purchased separately from the cases and come out to $26 together, $18 for the blush and $8 for the case. The blush refill fits securely in place the compact by a magnet. I picked up the shade Re-belle described as a “blissful blend of shining rose and warm apricot designed for breathtakingly neutral looks.”

pj-1

Re-belle is a lovely pink-rose shade. It has a sweet scent of plastic childhood toys, Charmkins anyone? The scent isn’t that overwhelming and does disappear after some time. The two shades can be applied separately to create a lovely contour or swirled together. The blush contains a heavy over-spray of shimmer. Most of the over-spray washes away, although to my best efforts, quite a large amount of shimmer still remained. The shimmer particles are quite large and tend to sit in pores which is unfortunate because the blush is rather lovely. The formula is very soft and blends into skin quite beautifully, leaving a lovely sheen.

pj-blush-swatch

I have over-applied Re-belle in the above image to best show the shade. When photographing these photos I need to consistently apply the blush as the intensity wore away very quickly. Paul and Joe Cheek Color is not one for long-wear but does create a lovely natural glow for several hours.

In conclusion, the wear of the blush and amount of shimmer doesn’t make this one a love for me. I am hoping in due time some more shimmer will wear away making it more wearable. I am not against shimmer if it is executed well, leaving a natural effect. The lipstick however is a beauty and I will gladly review it upon request.
